Webster defines agility as “the power to move quickly and easily”. Within this definition, several key words as it relates to agility training jump out. “Power” and “quickly” are both words that measure the movement of a mass as a function of time. In training terms, these words deal with the development of fast-twitch, explosive muscle fibers, elements which are inherent to the Kratos program.

The last word, “easily”, is a relative term that would be dependent on two elements: 1. the degree to which fast-twitch, “power” muscle fibers are developed, and 2. the techniques used to increase the efficiency of movement.

Kratos develops agility in its athletes through the explosive and strength components (“power”) coupled with the technique training phase of the speed component (“easily”). Where agility technique is concerned, particular emphasis is given to center of gravity, hip and feet position, each of which influences the athletes ability to stop, start and change directions “quickly”.
