The cornerstone of the Kratos resistance program is the Olympic lifts; the clean and jerk and snatch. If the objective of a program is to develop explosive qualities, then the training must follow the objective. There are no more explosive movements than those used to execute Olympic lifts.

Performed correctly, Olympic lifts are complicated movements that incorporate multiple muscle groups that fire explosively in a specific sequence. The unique nature of these lifts means that it is important that these movements be taught only by qualified trainers who not only teach the correct techniques to new lifters, but are also able to detect and correct flaws introduced into athletes by trainers unfamiliar with proper technique.

Kratos trainers are all certified by USA Olympic Weight Lifting, the same organization that sanctions competitions that enable US athletes to compete in the Olympics and internationally. The qualifications held by Kratos trainers provide them with the skills to introduce and correct proper techniques, with particular emphasis given to safety.

The sports application for Olympic lifts deals not only with the creation of explosive qualities in the quads, posterior chain and lower back (among others) but equally, if not more important, the hip roll. The ability of an athlete to “roll their hips” is the primary power determinant in sports such as football where rolling the hips is a critical element of blocking, tackling and shedding blocks.
